URBAN INFILLERS FEATURED ON FRONT PAGE OF The SEATTLE Times
SEATTLE, WA, FEBRUARY 23, 2007: The Urban Infillers development team was featured in the front page article in The Seattle Times Real Estate section, with a lengthy article focused on its unique strategy, design and quality. The article highlighted:
• Design Features of an Urban Infillers home
• Quality of Construction
• Unique Strategy for the Seattle Market
REACTION TO THE ARTICLE VERY POSITIVE
“REACTION to the article has been great,” says Will Hicks, who started the Urban Infillers concept. “Customers have called to see what will be finished next. It is very satisfying to get such a strong and enthusiastic reaction to our homes.”
David Neiman, architect on the project and creator of the “Umbrella Home” design, said: “We have tried a number of things that we believe are truly differentiated – designing higher quality spaces, increased number of built-ins, investment in envelop technologies of the home. We are very pleased with how quickly the market is catching on to these concepts.”
Hicks added: “We are targeting those buyers who want the quality of a custom home but do not have the time to do-it-themselves.” The Urban Infillers strategy focuses on individuals who are interested in urban locations, but want to live “smarter” in an intelligently designed, purpose built home. These homes feature designs that maximize light and configurations that embrace community.
While every Urban Infillers home is unique, they do share common characteristics. Quality construction is a hallmark. “We tend to make the same decisions that people would make if they were building this for themselves – no short cuts,” says Charlie Wright, Urban Infillers’ primary builder.
In addition, the homes are oriented towards community. All homes designed to date showcase an open floor plan that emphasizes integration and community – such as fireplaces, hearths and kitchens. Bedroom configurations are three bedrooms and two baths (including a special master bath) upstairs. If possible, the lower level will have a media/romper room as well as a guest room and full bath.
Charlie Wright, Urban Infillers primary builder, remarked: “It is refreshing to work with this development team. Designs are clear and thoughtful and take the lot characteristics into account. The result is a house with integrity.”
Hicks added: “Our strategy has been well received in Seattle because you have well-educated buyers who can want quality construction and good design. People want to live in a vibrant urban core that is close to work and friends. People want to live deliberately and smarter. That is what we are all about.”
Urban Infillers will complete three additional homes in 2007 and five more in 2008.
